Ways to Remove Wax from Carpet

Most of us love lighting a candle here and there. They are great for adding ambiance and freshening up a room. The problem with candles only comes from them being left unattended for too long. If you have ever experienced dried wax in carpet, you are aware of just how stubborn it can be. At Nip Tuck Carpet Repair, we have seen it all, including stubborn wax stains. So, we want to share a few of our tips with you on how to remove it as best you can.

Scrape

The first thing you need to do is scrape away as much of the dried wax as possible. You can take a simple butter knife to help you get this done. Once you have scraped away as much as you can, be sure to vacuum up the loosened wax.

Heat

Another thing that will help to release the wax is applying heat. Take a plain white towel or paper towel and place it over the wax covered area. If you do not use a plain towel, you run the risk of transferring any dyes or patterns from the towel onto your carpet, which you obviously do not want. Once you have the wax covered, take a simple household iron and on the lowest setting, gently place it over the area. Move the iron slowly in circular motions. The heat from the iron will warm up the wax enough and it will be absorbed into the towel.

Clean

Once you have followed the above steps, you can finish the process with a carpet cleaner. Make sure to follow the manufacturer’s instructions for the specific brand you choose.

In extreme cases, wax may remain. If you find that this is the case for you, all is not lost. Just give us at Nip Tuck Carpet Repair a call! We can simply remove the damaged piece of carpet and replace it with an identical donor piece. Because our technicians are highly skilled, you can expect the finished result to be rather seamless.
