What to Know About Carpet Stretching and Furniture

Oftentimes, when we are discussing our carpet stretching services with customers, they are curious to know how furniture will affect the process. Do you have to remove all furniture from a room, just some, or none? For the most part, we can work around furniture but there are a few exceptions which we will discuss.

Carpet stretching is used to remove wrinkles and buckles in carpet. To stretch the carpet properly, there needs to be enough room to maneuver special equipment around the room and furniture should not be so heavy that it prevents carpet from being pulled taut.

How Heavy Is It?

One of the first considerations in regards to furniture is how heavy the piece is. As we touched on, large and heavy pieces of furniture can prevent our technicians from being able to stretch the carpet fully. This can leave you with uneven results. Heavy pianos as well as large and heavy entertainment units are just a few examples of furniture that should be moved before we arrive. Of course, you can always call our office prior to the scheduled workday and ask about your specific pieces of furniture. This way you can have the most accurate idea of what to expect.

How Big Is It?

Large pieces of furniture can likewise prevent professional results. They can either make it difficult to maneuver around the room or they can make it difficult to know the condition of the carpet underneath them. Large sectionals are a great example of this.

How Much Is There?

The last consideration to make is the quantity of furniture present in a room. If there are a lot of pieces, it can make it quite difficult to stretch the carpet from different angles with our power stretcher. In addition, delicate items like glass vases and precious antiques should always be cleared to avoid needless damage.
