Pros and Cons of Plush Pile Carpet
At Nip & Tuck Carpet Repair, we deal with carpet every day. For most homeowners, we know this is not the case for you. Considering the fact that it is recommended that most carpet be replaced every ten years or so, it would make sense that most do not dedicate a ton of time to learning all of the different carpeting terms. That is what we are here for. So today we want to shed light on another style of carpet for you: plush pile.
What Plush Pile?
Plush pile carpet is a type of cut-pile. They are looped and cut to an even, short length. The fibers are positioned very tightly together, resulting in a soft, velvety carpet. Because of these characteristics, some may even advertise this style as a velvet pile carpet.
Pros
In both residential and commercial settings, plush pile is a classic choice. With proper care, this carpet will look great for a long time. It looks great as either a casual or more formal style. It comes in a truly vast variety of colors, from neutrals to bolder ones.
Cons
Due to its velvety manner, foot traffic and vacuum lines can be readily seen on this style of carpet. While this may not be a big deal to some, to others it may be a deal breaker. And as a rule, the softer a carpet is, the less durable it is. Like we mentioned, if cared well for, a plush pile carpet can last you quite some time. But it is not known as the most durable style on the market. So, if you are considering it for a high traffic area, this is something to keep in mind. Plush pile is also quite sponge-like due to its close-knit fiber structure. Meaning that spills and dirt are easily absorbed into the fibers and can be difficult to remove.
Overall, plush pile will provide buyers with soft carpet in a satisfying range of colors. And if you ever struggle with stubborn stains or buckles, know that Nip & Tuck Carpet Repair is only one phone call away.
